  1. Pops, WOW! Glad to hear you and Nana are OK after the blind idiot murphied you. I've still got the '83. I know the logistics are tough, but I'll put a little time in this today and get the plugs changed. I just returned from Manhattan KS, through MO yesterday. I doubt I could have squeezed The Beast onto my service van, but it might have been fun to try😁.

  5. If you run gasoline with alcohol, water collection in the fuel tank shouldn't be an issue because water will mix with alcohol and move it through the combustion chamber instead of collecting on the bottom of the tank. But, when the fuel is burned, one of the products of combustion is water. That's why water drips out of the exhaust when a cold engine is first started.

  11. Glad you made it out of that alive! Plan on making her whole again? My one regret is not getting around to riding my gen1 when I had it after restoring it. Ended up with a tour deluxe that took it's place ut I am sure if I rode both back to back I would still still have the gen1😁. Ride safe!

  12. I honestly cannot recall the exact facing of the lobes but as long as the intake and exhaust lobes for the cylinder you are checking are either facing toward or away from each other, you should get a good measurement. I shimmed all of mine that were questionable to the top(larger) end of the tolerance as they can generally only get tighter as they seat themselves. If they are in tolerance, I would not bother unless they are right at the bottom of spec.

  13. That is amazing @Condor.. I am somehow not real shocked though Jack.. A HUGE part of the success of my bike business was attributalble to the little, HARD TAIL MODEL, early model Z50's.. Even back in the 90's and into the 2000's we were pulling down 6 to 8 grand a pop for restored hardtails. Straight from hip brother,, the hardest part of the whole restore, IMHO so consider that, was getting the paint right.. Honda used a "3 part" paint to give those early candy paint scoots their look. Many of my bikes (the Zzz's) ended up in offices under glass as decorations.. I had a Commercial bank President from Chicago who was instrumental in selling over 30 of my restores,, even done some business with a Pro Football Player (wore a Patriots superbowl ring) because of my relationship with my banker buddy. It is indeed a different world out there with some of this collectable stuff. GREAT thread my friend!! Thanks for posting it!! Puc

  14. Yamaha made a very nice Harley clone with the Gen 3. That seems to be the style most riders like so that is the market they went after instead of going after the Goldwing market. My opinion doesn't matter a twit because I'm too old to buy bikes. What I have is it...

  15. I have had a front rubber valve stem fail while on the highway, it cracked around the circumference just above the rim. I was lucky in that it started leaking slow enough that i was able to slow down and get to the shoulder before a major deflation occurred. The bike started handling like I was riding on marbles or ice! I knew something wasn't right as soon as the handling changed. I will now only use steel one piece valve stems and check the compression nut often.

  16. I believe I’m getting ready to buy new Shinko 777 HDs for both ends. Probably going to purchase new metal valve stems.

  17. I'm always looking for the left turn in front of me. I don't ride in the blind spots if I can help it. I try to ride invisible. Cause I know they are not looking for me. This Guy was at a stop in the left turn lane. I slowed down watching him just sitting there. I got to the intersection and gassed to go through it. That's when he pulled out in front of me and stopped. Only going 25/30 mph. Hit Head on. 4th and main downtown Joplin.

  18. Sad news on 3/19/2021 the blond beauty has been wrecked. Left turn got me in a intersection in downtown Joplin, missouri. Head on with a full size truck. I slow down watching him . He was sitting still till I got to intersection then he pulled out in front of me. Me and Nana are still sore from the crash. Front tire almost touching radiator. Will post the picture of it . ASAP THANK YOU GUYS for the help with her she was a beautiful bike. Oh yeah was getting 33.7 MPG that day. Lmao @saddlebum @cowpuc @Pasta Burner @Squidley
