sleepy2 Posted 20 hours ago #1 Posted 20 hours ago was wondering if this would be usable in my 2012RSV or do I have to go to dealer?
Motorcycle Mike Posted 18 hours ago #2 Posted 18 hours ago i have always heard you should NOT put the same antifreeze you put in your car in your bike.
M61A1MECH Posted 13 hours ago #3 Posted 13 hours ago That is true, car anti-freeze has silicates in it that can wreck the seals in the bike's systems, use an anti-freeze that is designed for bikes.
megamile Posted 12 hours ago #4 Posted 12 hours ago Silicates not good for bikes. I don't remember what the specs are, but there is some antifreeze out there for cars that is usable. You have to read ingredients and become initial friendly.
N3FOL Posted 10 hours ago #5 Posted 10 hours ago FWIW, I've used Prestone coolant on my RSV and had done it twice already. So far so good.
sleepy2 Posted 1 hour ago Author #6 Posted 1 hour ago I was just wondering, as it does say it's usable in aluminum and cast iron! I have been using Honda antifreeze the last few times with no problems then I saw the Prestone fluid while grocery shopping in Walmart. I know about what shouldn't e in it, like silica and additives!
