vzuden Posted January 22 #10 Posted January 22 The daily High on Friday this week will be 5 below at my home in south central Wisconsin. I’m in Florida for a couple weeks right now and it’s 73. Not looking forward to returning home on Sunday!
RDawson Posted January 22 #11 Posted January 22 I was supposed to go to see the daughter in Florida this weekend, weather here put the kibosh on that trip. Guess we’ll freeze instead of sunbathing. Afraid to leave the house unattended with the freezing temperatures and possibility of ice and power outages out here in the boonies. Got the generators ready with plenty of fuel on hand. Being fully prepared usually means it won’t happen. 2

I may not go in to work on Monday. I agree. I am an egg eater and steak. Bread... worst case scenario, my wife can bake bread from scratch. Tomorrow morning, a trip to the gas station, grocery store and hardware store. All this will happen between 8am and 11am I hope. The anticipation is just the best feeling similar to about to go on a long vacation. Be safe out there.
RDawson Posted January 23 #15 Posted January 23 I know it’s not much to yall up north but we’re looking at 12” here possibly. We don’t have the plows and equipment to deal with it here. Out where we live a couple farmers and I saddle up the tractors and take care of the neighborhood roads. 3-4” pretty well paralyzes the area, 12” is a one in 10 year snow for us. Usually a very wet snow, one truck over it and it packs into ice. 1 1
Motorcycle Mike Posted January 23 #16 Posted January 23 They are predicting about an inch of ice here, no snow. You can not drive on ice but plenty try. After 2014 https://www.wabe.org/snow/ Ga. got a lot better at pretreating the main roads but secondary roads go untreated. The biggest worry is the ice bringing down trees and power lines. By Monday afternoon it will probably be all gone. 1
