  3. I've already pulled compression, checked spark & changed plugs and narrowed it down to a fuel delivery issue before posing the question for parts here.

  5. Why not do a compression test just for fun to confirm the health of the engine.

  7. After a year a miscellaneous down time with stator & electrical gremlins, the time sitting has taken its toll on my fueling system. My '99 is missing on 1 cylinder, I've done the heavy dose of cleaner into the tank a few times and even direct injecting it into the carb bowl with no real help. So I think its time to pull the carbs and give them a good cleaning. With that, I have a few questions 1. Anyone done the Ivan's Performance Kit (Ivan's XVZ1300)? I know his fuel injection re-maps are well regarded, and since I'm already in there it might not be a bad idea since I have K&N filters & Harley SE Mufflers that could probably use a slight boost in fueling. 2. I know the gaskets are supposed to be reusable, but I question 25yr old rubber parts coming apart nicely. I did find Service Kits available (XVZ1300 Mikuni Service Kit) and while the DellOrtoShop shows US, its all based off a Netherlands company. Does anyone have known good place to buy genuine (not chinesium) parts?

  11. Thanks. I’m giveing the Seafoam a try. I’ve never taken a carburetor apart so I’m a little nervous about having to do that.

  14. Does it die because it has no electrical power? Check all wiring and grounds by wiggling them to see i connections are loose. Possibly an add-on ignition relay problem like mine was. Click Here To See Ignition Relay Problem & Repair Does it die because it runs out of fuel? Fuel Pump after your 10 minute time period, should be clicking upon restart. If not, check fuel pump points.

  22. I had this issue with my venture. It turned out to be the ignition switch. Bike would run, and once the polymer inside of the ignition switch would get hot, the contacts would lose connection and shut down. Installed a relay, bypass and ordered a new ignition switch.
  23. Most likely is a stuck needle valve or debris in between the needle and the seat that is not allowing the float to close the valve fully. Some times a dose of Seafoam and a good spirited run will clear that up if it is minor. If a dose of Seafoam or carb cleaner does not fix it, you probably in for a carb overhaul. I am pretty sure the are posts in the tech library to help with this issue.
  24. I have gas dripping from a tube behind the front left fairing. It's coming from what looks like a feed line for the carburetors. Anyone know what's causing this and how to fix it?
