  1. Looking for Voyager trike mounting hardware, books or any install brochures for first or 2nd gen Venture Royale
  2. Hi I'am new to biking bought a 2003 royal star venture with a voyage kit on it.Had all kind of problems with it.I took it to a voyage dealer he relined it back up and tighten loose bolts. He said wheels were toed in more then likly from voyage. He corrected that problem, however in some curves it's hard hard hard to handle.I talk to three trike builders in our area .They tell me voyage trike kits are real problem. That not much can do for them. That even a product like ez steer won't help. I live in cleveland tn. so roads are windy.I was told by two trike builders not to wast anymore money. The problem is the three wheels work against each orther in a tight turn, no why to slove this.
  3. I'm interested in converting my RSV to a trike. Who makes Kits that I can install at home? Beside Triwing and Voyager? Any input on things is appreciated.
  4. I'm looking at a trike kit, for the same reasons add everyone else my age. I like the idea of switching back and forth from two to four wheels. How hard is the riding adjustment between indirect steering of two wheels and direct steering of three or four? Thanks. 2006 RSV
  5. I have never seen something like this it is a 1970 RENAULT CAR TURNED INTO TRIKE CONVERT , WITH CAMPER.
  6. http://valdosta.craigslist.org/mcy/1295718747.html http://images.craigslist.org/3k53m53l4ZZZZZZZZZ97t8999de885cc3155e.jpg :crackup::crackup:
  7. As many know from my past posts, I picked up a pair of 1986 Yamaha Venture Royale’s back in October of 2014 to have an excuse to spend time with my Father turning wrenches and restoring these wonder pieces of Yamaha engineering with the intention of getting him back in the saddle again after a long hiatus of him riding. My father has ridden motorcycles all his life and was the reason I too have the bike bug. He taught me everything I know. My Dad and I had a great time restoring our matching Venture’s and spent some really memorable times on the road during the summer of 2015. As you can see, he started me young (picture of me in my knitted "helmet" circa early 1970's on one of his bikes) But I need to clarify one thing….My Dad is 75 years old this year and getting him back in the saddle of a large and heavy bike like the MKII Venture Royale caused a bit of stress for him. He was once a big burly police officer that road Police Harley’s on the street, in high speed pursuits, rode dirt bikes on the many trails we have here in the mountains of Alberta Canada…..but unfortunately he is not the big, strong man, with razor reflexes like he once was. Although he is in great shape and could probably still kick my butt, age catches up with all of us unfortunately. The point of riding is to have a pleasurable, relaxing, and fun time. But if you are constantly worrying about dropping your bike or avoiding roads with traffic lights that make you stop and balance your bike then that is not a good thing, and that is where my father is unfortunately coming to this 2016 riding season. So I saw this as a challenge and quest to find a way to keep my Dad riding with me, but to hopefully take the stress out of it for him. So I set out to trike his bike. Being that we only paid $500 each for our lovely Venture’s I could not justifying spending thousands of dollars on the many trike kits and conversions out there. Nor did my Dad want to shell out the money for a already triked machine since he doesn’t know how many years of riding he has left. So I thought about alternatives, did a lot of research, checked Craig’s List every day, and even bought some DYI trike plans off the internet to see if I could build my own. Well, one lovely day in June 2015 I was sitting in my office in Calgary Alberta Canada and was checking Craig’s list for Phoenix Arizona and found an ad for “Motorcycle trailer Insta-trike”. I reached out the the very nice fellow in Casa Grande Arizona who said that he had bought a property and in one of the sheds there was some assorted metal and a trailer for a motorcycle which had a sticker on it calling it an “Insta-trike” and he would sell it to me and the scrap for $100. Well from my research I know this was not trailer at all, but a trike kit for a motorcycle….Eureka I found a solution for my Dad and for only $100!!!!! Yippie. Now the problem, the Insta-Trike was located in Arizona but my Dad's Bike is located 2550km away. Plus the trike had been modified to fit a mystery bike that was definitely not a 1986 Yamaha Venture Royale. Being that I sometimes overestimate my mechanical, fabrication, and transportation abilities, I purchased the Insta-trike and scrap metal over the phone and told him I would pick it up the next time I was in Arizona. We were schedule to head down to our house in Phoenix for a Summer vacation in July so the seller was kind enough to store the “scrap metal” for me for an additional month. Well July rolled around and this is what greeted me when I picked it up. Well I then proceeded to spend many hours cleaning it, repainting, and upgrading the bald tires and larger rims so my Dad wouldn’t think I was putting a set of used “training wheels” on his nicely restored Venture. Got that all done and was very proud of myself and the project……but then it dawned on me “how the heck do I get this home to Canada” as it weighs a ton! Plus “How the heck do I connect this trike to my Dad’s bike since it clearly was meant for a different bike and was missing brackets!” I proceed to tackle the “How do I connect it to my Dad’s Bike” first. I contacted Tow-Pac the makers of the “insta-trike kit” asking if I could purchase parts and possibly a bracket kit for the Yamaha Venture. They instantly refused me saying they only sell the brackets for a specific bike with a full trike kit. I then asked if I could purchase a few replacement parts…they asked me to send them a picture of my insta-trike for reference before they would sell me parts. Once I sent them pictures of my “$100” find then proceed to send me a refusal email saying that my trike appeared to have been modified and they would NOT sell me anything related to parts or accessories. Plus they were rather rude in the process like I had violated a cardinal rule of purchasing a “used” and “Butchered” product of theirs. That total Pissed me off! I have never been refused by a vendor to sell me parts for their product! Well, that was the last I will ever try to work with Tow-Pac ever again. So it is up to me to fabricate brackets….I can do that….right? I own lots of big scary tools that can cut, grind, weld, and drill metal…it is only my Father’s safety going down the road at 110km per hour….how hard could it be? Next challenge….”how the heck do it transport this 200lb metal contraption to Canada from Arizona?” I checked into all kinds of transport options and they were all Very Expensive!!!! My Shipping options ranged from $1200 to $600 to get it across the border and moved 2550km away. Kind of defeats the purpose of going cheap if shipping it would cost that much. Plus I didn’t feel like driving, nor do I have the time to drive 48 hour and travel 5000km round trip in my truck to pick it up personally. So I decided to see if I could take it on the airplane with me! How do you eat an elephant….well one bite at a time…so I decide to use the same approach with getting this thing home on the airplane. I stripped the trike down to it’s smallest parts possible and took a part or two in my suite case or box every time I went down to Arizona. Both my wife and the airlines thought I was crazy, but if I kept the size and weight down to their maximum levels then each item would only cost me $20 to take on the plane…..AND if I could fit it in my carry on bag it was free! I like FREE!!! Have you ever went through Airport security with a full torsion axel and hub in your carry on bag? Well I have, and had to do some sweet talking with a supervisor at the Security check point to prove it was not hazardous, or could be used as a weapon on board the airplane. Luckily Airport security supervisor was a motorcycle guy too and let me pass after some very detailed questions about my Yamaha Venture’s and my personal intentions with the part on board. Plus I made him chuckle with my story of how I was transporting my Dad’s trike kit one piece at a time. Unfortunately, my wife did not find it humors waiting for me to clear security and thinking I was getting strip searched in the interrogation room! After 4 trips to Arizona and $100 in extra baggage fees I finally got the elephant eaten and the kit made it home to my shop in Canada! Yippie!!!! Now time to fabricate the Brackets to attach it to my Dad’s Bike. To be Continued!
  8. Can anyone tell me if you have any information on adding reverse to t Royal Star Midnight Venture?
  9. Anyone have a fairly accurate weight of an RSV/Hannigan Trike? 2008RSV/2011Hannigan, EZ steer, Aux tank(empty), 1gl gas in main, no luggage/gear. I'm trying to figure out if I can trailer it behind the Brides new car and the max weight of the trailer w/trike loaded. 'preciate the info.. Limited to combined trlr/bike weight of 1700 lbs. is the reason I'm asking. 1200 lb. bike means I will probably need an aluminum trailer.
  10. Mrs. Yamadawg has a VTX 1300 Trike with the Motor Trike conversion and it has a windshield instead of the fairing. We would like to add a sound system and need some recommendations and watch outs. We are looking to do a permanent mount with radio and need ports for a MP3 player and future technologies. I would appreciate any input and ideas. Thanks! Don
  11. We are currently converting a Royal Star (1996) to a trike with one of our conversion kits. The problem we need to solve is the resiting / replacing of the speedometer pickup which on the bike is fitted to the rear of the swing arm / shaft cowl. As we are removing all this assembly the question is how to retain the existing speedometer (tank mounted). On a previous conversion - A Royal Star Venture - we resorted to a replacement handlebar mounted digital speedo but the customer would prefer to use the original. Can anyone give me advice on where and ho to re-site the speedo or if there is some modification we have to make. Looking at the speedo pickup on the swingarm the sensor is bevelled and looks to operated buy the make break of the splines on the shaft is this correct? Thanks in advance Steve Casarva Custom Conversions UK
  12. This is at least two states that have said no to the Slingshot. Texas also gave it the thumbs down. I think it's ridiculous but I wonder what it means for the future of this trike? I hope they get it worked out. There's not one in our immediate future but Eileen really wants one. Connecticut DMV says no to Polaris Slingshot | Fox News
  13. I have a friend looking for an RSV Trike. No Voyager kits. Anybody have a lead?

  15. There has been a lot of talk about trikes and trike conversions. I am seriously considering going the trike route...only thing is that I don't know if it will be better to convert my 07 RSV (and, if so, using what system?) or to sell my bike and just purchase a trike (again, which manufacturer?) Sure would appreciate any help you all have.
  16. Any other RSV Voyager "trike" riders in PA out there? Have you seen the article in the December 2009 ABATE of PA newsletter? According to PennDOT, the Voyager trike kit is not legal in PA! It's because with the Voyager on the bike, it has four wheels on the ground, not three. According to PennDOT, the state Vehicle Code states that a motorcycle can have no more than three wheels. I've looked it up, and by strict letter of the law, it appears that they are right. But, come on, aren't there better things the lawyers at the largest governmental agency in the state could be doing? Hopefully ABATE will be able to get the law changed and/or get the courts to throw this out. My disabled son LOVES riding on our 2000 RSV with the Voyager trike on it, but he can't ride without the stability the kit provides. Check it out, this could be an issue for any "trikes" that have more than three wheels, like Tow-pac.
  17. Anybody out there using a car tire on an RSV with a Voyager trike kit on it? I spoke to my local Voyager dealer today, and he suggested that it might make the Voyager ride too hard, and/or bounce too much? Anyone heard of this being a problem? I have an 11 year old son who is wheel chair bound, but he LOVES to ride the RSV. However, he has gotten too big (5'10" tall and 190 lbs!), as have I, (240 lbs) for the recommended max weight, according to Yamaha. I ordered my Voyager trike kit today, and thought it might be a good time to switch to the car tire to get the extra mileage, since lean will no longer be an issue. But the MTC dealer strongly recommended against it. Any and all comments would be welcome. Thanks. Don from PA
  18. It was more then a year ago that a guy drove 12 hours from Canada, north of Michigan to pick up my 2000 1100 Vstar. He was getting back into biking and wanted to turn my bike into a Trike and I had just bought my Venture. Anyway, long story but just the other day he sent me the pics of the finished product. Ive never seen anything like it. No rear wheel, there's a car axle under there somewhere. thought it was interesting here it is on my last ride with it (cabot trail) http://lh3.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/SE6Vm-GZc7I/AAAAAAAAAYQ/r1Yrp2TEUrs/s640/Nova%20Scotia%20June%2008%20260.jpg and here it it now: http://lh6.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/TEOutXWZcSI/AAAAAAAAD2I/vxCuxDP86zY/s640/Photos%202009-2010%20204.jpg http://lh4.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/TEOusvT2JRI/AAAAAAAAD2A/uxyBbJKjvR8/s640/Photos%202009-2010%20191.jpg
  19. Hi; Does anyone have a Trike Kit for a RSV which they want to sell? Trying to find a deal to replace the Voyager kit on mine. I'm just not happy with it's lean on curves or sometime wobble. Anyone buy a kit & just not wanted to install it? Got it for sale or know someone who does? Let me know please. Thanks... John R. Bauer
  20. I just wanted to let everyone know how pleased and professional this company is. One of the most pleasurable company to deal with. I have been working with Jim to get better braking power on my dad's 07 trike. He sent us new brake shoes and the larger rotors right before Christmas. During the time I was at dad's we worked on the bike. The brake pads didn't fit the calipers so we just didn't use them because the ones on there were still good. Went to put the wheels on and they didn't fit, wheel hit the caliper. So I called and got Jim's voice mail saying he was out until after the holidays, expected really. I called today and left a message for him to call me back. He did promptly and now he is going to send new calipers with all the fittings to get all the new stuff on. I am really happy this company stands behind their kits and helps owners of older models upgrade to their newer equipment. If or when I get a trike it will be a Hannigan for sure.
  21. hi all hope the new year is a better one for all. it has come time for me to sell my '99 rsv motor trike. it has just over 31,000 miles on it. squidly ( brad ) will help me this weekend to post pictures on the site. also for sell is a m/c jack lift, a lift adapter, a carbtune, a front fork air pressure pump, and a progressive rear shock pump, which can also be used to top off air pressure in the tires. the price of the trike is $10,250.00 which is the pay off on the trike. i have a clear title to the trike as i found a independet finance source. i also have two color matched helments that will go with the trike. the pull behind trailer that i have had for a few years will also be for sell. i will still be a part of this site but will be just bike less for some time. best reguards don c. my e-mail addie is dcumps1950@yahoo.com phone # is 832-265-6236
  22. Saw on the news today that Elio motors is buying the old GM plant in Shreveport to assemble their trike like car for $6800. Anyone ever heard of these people? Kinda of a novelty looking thing!
  23. Well the checks of my Trike have revealed its first problem. When I picked it up, I was told that a small dent was discovered in the front fender which was believed to be caused by the light-bar falling on the fender during a performed repair. After driving it home I discovered that the small dent is now a crease in what was my beautiful fender. Sooooooo... Anyone who has had their Venture converted with a Hannigan kit & EZSteer - Have you had problems with your light-bar hitting the front fender on hard bumps due to reduced clearance between the bar & the fender? I have a call into the previous owner... Before I attempt to fix the problem, I need to know if the reduced clearance is from the EZSteer install or some lowering adjustment performed. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome. Anyone know where I can get fender damage repaired like I have? Thanks as always - here are some photos. show two dents & ridge mark across fender shows small clearance problem
  24. Ok - everybody knows that I'm not going to do an install, but I do have a couple questions regarding an install. I am considering buying another Venture and getting it triked, probably a Hannigan since there are only 2 kits available. #1 - How does mileage on the bike affect the kit ? ie; wear on parts not replaced by the kit. #2 - Is the infamous rear shock gone with trike install ?
  25. I dropped my bike in my driveway and blew out a disc in my back trying to pick it up. Been in bed for ten days now. I am 61 and live with a few disabities... 4 bad back disc , 5 right shoulder operation and 2 knee. I am heathy .. just broken. I have watched " who to pick up your bike " on YOUTUBE and now see I did everything wrong. That is not my question.... somewhere on the forum I THINK I read if you trike a Venture there is now a "reverse kit" ???? If I can not get "reverse" I am going to have to sell and think about a Goldwing trike. I have no problem with getting a Goldwing but it would be cheaper if I could trike my Venture. I like my venture for it's stlying and dependability . Any information would be nice thank you Cb
