  1. I need to find a new spring for my 89 horn switch, I suspect it is sold as as a switch assembly only. Here is the link to the parts diagram as shown on Boats.net http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/1989/VENTURE%20ROYALE%20-%20XVZ1300DWC/HANDLE%20SWITCH%20LEVER/parts.html I have looked elsewhere, none of the diagrams illustrate a horn switch part number, and if they do, I can not figure it out. Anyone .....
  2. How do I separate the dash to get to the gauges? My dash illumination knob won't budge. I have searched the forums and my manual diagrams but can't see how it comes apart. Thanks
  3. I have a Tour Classic that I bought with the windshield missing. I have some parts here but darned if I can figure out how it mounts and what else I need. The windshileds that I see for sale (here for example: http://houston.craigslist.org/for/2638821004.html ) don't look anything like the diagrams on bikebandit (here: http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/2001-yamaha-xvz1300ltn-royal-star-tour-deluxe/o/m10192#sch517898 ). All three posts advertising a 1996-2001 Royal Star windshiled look like the craiglist one above. Can anyone look at these diagrams and enlighten me as to what the difference is? Can someone take a closeup picture of their windshield so I can see? I actually have some of the parts like in the Craigslist link above, but it seems too narrow to go on the factory mounts (items 18 & 19 on Bikebandit link) that are on the bike. I have been keeping my eye out for a year proper Royal Star in San Diego to look at, but none so far. Also, if there is anyone in San Diego with a 96=01 Royal Star non-Venture with the windshield, can I take a look at your bike? Thanks, Tim
  4. I bought a used amplifier on ebay and the previous owner had changed the plug with one that wouldn't match my wiring harness plug. Most of his leads were labled and I have them all wired up except two. They are the orange and yellow lead coming out of the amp. I think they go to the sb (sky blue) and lg (light green) lead that go to the remote controller but I don't know which goes to which. Could someone help me out. My bike is an 89 Venture Royale and some of the wiring colors may have changed with the models. The wiring diagrams I found all are just "block" diagrams that don't show the exact pin locations, etc. I don't have a headset to try the remote controller if I wanted to connect them one way and then the other to see which one works. I'd rather not do that as I don't want to damage the controller. Thank you for your help. Sam
  5. Just wondering if anyone has a part bike or something where I could get these plastic parts. Attached is a picture, I can look through the part diagrams for the numbers if it would help. Basically the plastic that the CLASS and CB sit on. 89 VR Thanks!
  6. Hey all! My lovely bride got me an iPhone for my b-day last month. I love this thing! If you happen to have one, I just found a great app for BikeBandit. Load you bike in and you instantly have access to part diagrams, part numbers, et.c with pricing. You can even place an order for parts from the phone. What'll they think of next?? If you have an iPhone, what are your favorite apps?
  7. speed sensor has 3 wires L/Y, W, B/L which one is power, ground, sensor signal wiring diagrams confuse the he-- out of me.
  8. As we know Dingy has made an excellent contribution to the site in the form of the color wiring diagrams. I have printed the wiring diagrams for my 83 VR in a size of 36”x24”, full color and put them up on my workshop wall. It has been great to be able to work on the bike and be able to just look up and “see” the wiring without finding my place again on a small black and white page. This got me to thinking, which RandyA will tell you is very dangerous! How many of the members would like to have large size color prints of the diagrams for their bikes? I called the local Kinko’s to see what the charge would be to print them and was quoted way too much money. (at least for me) So to cut to the chase what I am proposing is this: Each member that would like a large size print would donate to a common fund what they thought the prints would be worth to them. All cost for printing and United States Postal service would be at my expense. ALL of the money donated for the prints would be divided by the number of our members serving us in the military. It would be my intent that the money be used by them to help pay for the cost of phone calls home over the Christmas/New Year holidays. (If this plan is not to your favor then a substitute donation to St. Judes will be made.) I have spoken with Dingy and he has given his okay to go ahead with the idea. I will be setting up a Paypal account later today or you can send checks/money orders. Many of you do not know me but you can check with RandyA and I am sure he will tell you that the money collected will go for the intended purpose. So let’s begin, tell which diagram you want, where to send the diagram to, the amount of your donation and the benefactor of choice. (I will keep records and supply those upon request.) I will print each week from now to the end of November, mailings will go out Mondays, last mailing on November 30. Contact me via private message or my home email and phone number is listed in my profile. Thanks all – working together we can make the Holidays a little brighter for each other. Steve Neal (sgn)
  9. I have a 1996 Royal Star and I recently bought some passing lamps. But I don't know how to wire them. I have seen the diagrams and posts on this site but would love to have actual photos. Anyone have pics? Thanks.
  10. Ok folks, I ran into what I feel are the ultimate wiring diagrams for bikes. Please go to www.kojaycat.com and do some reading. Currently they do not offer diagrams for Ventures. However Colin would be interested in working with us to make them for all needed Venture series. I need to see what the the club input is on this idea. I figure about $30 to $40 per set U.S. Might be less. The 1500 Wing set is right in that range. We have a sister club in the U.K. that would probably be interested. I will send them the same message. We might need to help with pictures of components etc. JB
  11. This is for the 1999 model Royal Star Venture but should be ok for 1999-2007 models. Parts Diagrams
  12. Here are the links to the parts catalogs used by most commercial site: 1983: http://tinyurl.com/4yt66u 1984: http://tinyurl.com/3jmmnj 1985: http://tinyurl.com/3oasrg 1986: http://tinyurl.com/4bnb6l 1987: http://tinyurl.com/4bnb6l 1988: http://tinyurl.com/4zer58 1989: http://tinyurl.com/4kefl2 1990: http://tinyurl.com/4xnecn 1991: http://tinyurl.com/4almpq 1992: http://tinyurl.com/4yn8kk 1993: http://tinyurl.com/4hd5od Diagrams are stored as .pdf's. If you don't have Adobe Reader (or another .pdf reader) installed on your computer, please download the reader from the following link: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html There are two possible ways to see the files: Left-click on the appropriate link and the diagram will show in a new browser window. You can then use the navigation pane on the left to view the appropriate diagram or just scroll down page by page. You can also right-click on the appropriate link and choose the "Save Target As..." option to store a local copy on your hard drive. Navigation of the file is identical for both procedures. On thing I noticed is that the 1989 parts diagram is mislabeled, it show the model year as XVZ12 instead of XVZ13, a minor glitch, the part numbers are correct. Also, the diagrams for 1986 and 1987 are identical. Hope this helps, Klaus
