  1. Now that I have a Goldwing I've noticed a few more postings by wing riders. Does anyone know how many of us are on the site now? Just curious. Dennis
  2. When's the next M&E??? I want to visit my sister soon and need an excuse for going...
  3. How many Oklahoma Venture riders do we have on this forum?
  4. Any other RSV Voyager "trike" riders in PA out there? Have you seen the article in the December 2009 ABATE of PA newsletter? According to PennDOT, the Voyager trike kit is not legal in PA! It's because with the Voyager on the bike, it has four wheels on the ground, not three. According to PennDOT, the state Vehicle Code states that a motorcycle can have no more than three wheels. I've looked it up, and by strict letter of the law, it appears that they are right. But, come on, aren't there better things the lawyers at the largest governmental agency in the state could be doing? Hopefully ABATE will be able to get the law changed and/or get the courts to throw this out. My disabled son LOVES riding on our 2000 RSV with the Voyager trike on it, but he can't ride without the stability the kit provides. Check it out, this could be an issue for any "trikes" that have more than three wheels, like Tow-pac.
  5. I used to have a 99 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic 1500 and join a Vulcan Riders group. Now that I have a Venture, I would like to get together & ride with some Venture Riders. Are any of you in the Omaha, NE area and would like to ride together sometime? craigr
  6. How many of you live in the Tampa Bay FL. area ?
  7. One Mission I really wish I was on ! Article: Bikers descended on the town of Newtown yesterday and linked arms blocking the hate group protesters of Westboro Baptist Church from disrupting the funerals. "More than 100 riders from New York and Massachusetts, organized by the anti-Westboro group Patriot Guard Riders, were also in Connecticut on Wednesday to show their support, Patch reported. The lined the streets arm in arm." “All these guys see us and think we’re bad. We’re not. It’s solidarity, is what it is,” New York native Jim Hannigan told Newtown Patch. “I just felt I had to be here.” Source and Photo by Newton Patch.
  8. Coming home from running an errand, came upon an accident where a motorcycle rearended a car, both riders down. The couple on the bike where older husband and wife. We practically had to hold him down, he was bleeding from some cuts on his head and was complaining of pain in his groin. His wife was laying motionless on the roadway, but she was conscious and talking but not moving. It only took about 4 minutes for police and ambulances to show. They got them loaded on the ambulances pretty quickly after putting neck braces on them and getting them on backboards. He kept telling his wife he was sorry, for some reason he didnt see the car slowing to make a turn. The Harley looked to be totaled. Please pray for them, I dont know their names but I think they were associated with one of our local churches. Left me pretty shaken after it was all over. It can happen to any of us. Please be careful out there.
  9. With the mega storm affecting a lot of the riders on this forum, especially those directly in the path of Sandy, and the extreme cold front that is coming in from the northwest of you, to mix with the rain and wind of Sandy...I just want to wish you all a safe harbor, and hope that everyone comes out of this okay. Please do your best to secure your family and home, and we will all understand if you need to be away from the 'puter for days. Once this has passed, please let us know if you are okay, but more importantly, please let us know if you need any help...anything at all. While I may be on the West Coast now, I have resources that can reach to the East Coast, and can be available to assist those in need on this forum. Just let me know. I wish all of you the best, and hope the best for you and your families.
  10. This message is from Mary Hopey, she asked me to post this. "She would like to thank all of the Venture riders for their support and donations. This has been a great blessing to her."
  11. Anybody here going to the Killington Rally in Vermont this weekend? Got the weekend off and would like to catch up with some fellow venture riders if they are going to be there.
  12. Just wondering if anyone that has these on a 2nd Gen (not triked) and what your thoughts are? I like the idea of the passenger comfort but do they get in the riders way? When backing the bike up, do you make sure they are in the back position or can you back up the bike with them forward? At $250 they seem expensive... but worthwhile?
  13. Any Ontario riders heading to the international on Monday morning.
  14. Any Michigan riders going to NY for the rally are welcome to join us for the trip. We will be leaving on Sunday July 22 in the AM. So far it's us and Carbon One. After the Rally heading to the northeast for awhile.

    Senior Riders Sign In

Was just wondering how many senior riders (65 yrs. plus) are on the board? I will be 69 in Nov. and the lady will be 66 and we are still riding the RSV. Last year we logged over 8K miles. I told the wife the other day I think I will know when it is time to give it up. The moment I do not feel confident and in control that will be it. So far so good. Thanks!

All the riders are from my town and the local club. Remember, the cars are trying to kill us.
  19. is there one on the web that will let u save & SHARE with other riders?
  20. Well, I'm the proud owner of a brand new Harley Electra Glide Ultra Classic but it was tough to part with the RSTD. It was a nice bike and very mechanically sound. It had everything I wanted at the time of purchase but as the years went by I found I wanted more. Alas, I just can't bring myselft to upgrade to the Venture knowing Yamaha hasn't done anything to really update or improve it in years. I'm not bashing - please don't think I am. They are really great bikes. I just decided they aren't my cup of tea. So, I intend to hang around this forum so I can continue to learn from a very knowledgable group of riders. I know there are a few out there that ride HD's. So, I'll become one of the few. Below is a pic of my new ride. It's Ember Red Sunglo in color. In the sunlight it sparkles with gold flecks. It's really nice paint. This picture doesn't do it much justice but you get the idea. Keep it between the ditches everyone. Les

  24. The following is a BC Provincial Govn't new announcement. Moderators feel free to delete if you deem necessary. VICTORIA – To mark the beginning of Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, the Province is announcing new safety regulations aimed at improving road safety and reducing motorcycle deaths, injuries and crashes. Effective June 1, all motorcycle riders and their passengers must wear helmets that meet safety industry standards. This means motorcycle riders will no longer be able to wear novelty helmets, typically known as skid lids, skull caps or beanies, which do not meet the new requirements. In addition, the new regulations: · Will require passengers, including children, to place their feet on foot pegs or floorboards. Drivers can easily be thrown off balance and risk crashing if their passengers do not keep their feet fixed on foot rests. Children who are unable to reach foot rests will no longer be allowed to ride as passengers. · Will improve visibility and enforcement for police. The font size on motorcycle licence plates has increased by 0.95 centimetres (3/8 of an inch). Since May 2011, all new motorcycle licence plates have been issued with the larger font. In making the announcement, Minister of Justice and Attorney General Shirley Bond said the provincial government intends to move forward with a graduated licensing program that includes power restrictions, following additional consultation to determine the best model. Feedback will be considered along with research and best practices to develop a model that improves rider safety and reduces motorcycle crashes especially for new riders. The Office of Motor Vehicles and ICBC will also partner on an awareness campaign to ensure automobile drivers are aware of how to drive safely when they encounter motorcycles on the road. The goal is to reduce fatalities and injuries from crashes involving motorcycles. While motorcycles are estimated to make up about three per cent of insured vehicles in B.C., they account for approximately 10 per cent of road fatalities. In the last five years, 203 motorcyclists have lost their lives on B.C.’s roads and 5,172 have been injured. Motorcycle fatalities increased by about 57 per cent between 1996 and 2010. The new rider safety regulations are the result of extensive consultations between the Office of the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles, BC Coroners Service, ICBC, police and other road safety partners to develop a comprehensive approach to improve motorcycle safety within the motorcycling community and industry. The month of May will allow for a transition period that will give government time to move to the new laws by informing riders and the public about the upcoming changes. Starting June 1, police will begin enforcing the new laws and issuing educational materials to riders found violating the helmet and seating regulations. Fines for all new helmet-related offences are $138, and fines for seating requirements range from $109 to $121. In addition to fines, riders violating seating requirements will have their motorcycles impounded.
  25. Took the step forward and joined the Patriot Guard Riders. Now to "gear up".
