My 2000 RSV has 30K and I am wondering if all of the recommended maintenance is necessary or is some of it just a way to get more money into the dealer. I bought the bike used with 20K and, as far as I know, oil changes and tires are all that has been done to it. I am fairly mechanically inclined and have always done most of my own maintenance but getting some input and/or help from someone who has been there always makes things go more smoothly. the bike is running fine and is stock except for HD mufflers. steamer Posted July 28, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 28, 2014 I would change out all the fluids. probably never been changed in 14 years. Brake, clutch, cooling, rear end. Also grease the rear hub pins and drive shaft. Lube the throttle cables and the shifter linkage and anything else that moves. Basically I would service everything. Then you know what you got.
