labill Posted July 2, 2018 Share #1 Posted July 2, 2018 Has anyone come up with an easy way to check the oil level on the Venture? I have a sidecar on it now and made it only worse. labill
37 bell Posted July 2, 2018 Share #2 Posted July 2, 2018 Sitting on the bike i use a mirror and hold down there. If it is dark you have to have a flashlight
Rafterd Posted July 3, 2018 Share #3 Posted July 3, 2018 What he said. I bought an extension mirror at Napa and use that.
labill Posted July 4, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted July 4, 2018 Appears that is the only good way. Purchased a mirror with light. Old eyes are not what they use to be but will work. Thanks, labill
djh3 Posted July 5, 2018 Share #5 Posted July 5, 2018 I took a black sharpie and marked the high/low marks. It helps you find the level quickly.

SilveradoCA Posted July 14, 2018 Share #8 Posted July 14, 2018 I'm going to measure and cut a small stick of wood with a V or U shaped notch in it, and an elastic keeper over the end. The wood will be the correct length so that when attached to the right side saddlebag support, it will touch the ground when the bike is level. This will allow me to pull the bike up level and balance it on the stick while crouching down to check the oil level; right hand on the handlebar, left hand on the passenger grab bar. I used a jack stand to do this before I left on my trip. This is the same idea, only smaller, portable, and somewhat less stable. I believe it will be good enough. Sylvester Posted July 14, 2018 Share #9 Posted July 14, 2018 Put a 2" piece of wood under the kickstand and then check oil level.
