Leland Posted February 18, 2018 Share #1 Posted February 18, 2018 The quick release feature for the windshield and luggage rack are nice, but offer no theft protection. I've been thinking of doing this since I bought the bike in '06 but just now got around to it. The SS "Pin-in-hex" screws require a special tamper resistant allen wrench. Of course this does not make them theft proof, but will hopefully slow down the opportunist thief. The screws lock the quick-release lever from moving. Drilling the luggage rack was easy as it is just mild steel. The windshield being stainless was a little tougher. I suppose you could do just one side, but I did both. I couldn't find the screws I wanted from Ace so sourced them from McMaster-Carr. If anyone else would like to do this, PM me with your address and I will put a few in the mail for you (I guess they will go through the mail ok). You will need to supply your own allen wrench. Kretz Posted February 18, 2018 Share #2 Posted February 18, 2018 What a great idea & great pics, good detail of the mods, thanks for posting. I have wondered how prevalent theft of those things is, & anything we can do to stop these low lives is a good idea.
