Yup have used that method myself. Well minus the Mercedes. I have to use the hitch on the PU

For years I used a C-clamp and a small block of wood. Then I bought a bead-breaker from Harbor Freight and never used the clamp again.

I can buy a lot of 2x6 for $50. Plus less storage room.

I picked up one of those little HF Bead Breakers a number of years ago for $15 after using one of those HF coupons. After breakin beads with 2x4's, car method like above, C-Clamps, 16 inch Channel Locks and even beating them loose by standing on the tire and using a heavy wrecking bar - gotta say that little bead breaker is the best 15 bucks I ever spent.. Sure makes the tire change routine a lot easier I tell ya cause those beads can be a formittable challenge unless your :superman:!!
