Hannigan For The '09

What should I buy/not buy?? I will do the steering setup and am considering a 2 tone paint job. Also want the wheel upgrade. What about the hitch? I already have a Diamond R o n the bike. What about leveling links and lowering kit?? Questions, questions...

Bob I saw in another post you've decided to go with a Hannigan conversion. Hannigan uses a pair of coil over shock type shocks on their trikes. Thus doing away with the factory shock. In place of the factory shock they have a steel tube in it's place.
On Don's trike at the rally, he intends to raise the bike by adding leveling links as he feels it's too low as it comes from the factory. Especialy with the Hannigan tow bar installed. Don't know if a Diamond R hitch will work with this trike. I doubt it very much.
On the paint I'd deffinately go with the two tone.
Not having a Hannigan trike and from just observing them I can't add any more than this but I'm sure some other owners will stop in and give some great advice.

I've been very happy with mine, the speedo is even accurate after they got finished with it. Cougar has a hitch on his.

Bob, you will have to go with there hitch system.
It involves tubes that are Incorporated to the underside
that go way back up inside there.
I even removed my venture dads hitch and
sold it.

I am not sure why you would want to lower it though,
the height is just right for me. I am 5.10

(DO NOT WORRY AT ALL ABOUT MOVING THIS TRIKE AROUND)

you will be even able to push it around with your spouse on it !

I was looking onto having my RSV triked and have been doing quite a bit of research on the net and this site, I've sent two emails to Hannigan in Kamloops BC as they're the closest dealer for Hannigan, I've yet to get any kind of response from them! Not many Hannigan dealers here in the Northwest! I would probably want the Reverse Kit also installed if there is a good unit available? I've also called and talked to California Sidecar about their kits, they were very helpful and answered all my questions, and, they're is a dealer in Portland, OR that does ther conversions...Soooo, it seemed on the site that the Hannigan was pretty much the conversion of choice?? I have a friend that just bought a new Harley Trike and I'm not very impressed with it and I don't think at first he was either, but he says he's getting used to it and seems to be easier to steer although not very smooth riding! But it's a Harley!

Any thoughts on the two conversions and a reverse kit?? :parrots:

Larry, There are no reverse kits at this time for the RSV.
That was my biggest concern/worry when switching over.

Come to find out after the conversion the bike is so easy
to push around even with the wife on it as well. I always
pull into the garage front first and then when I go riding
I grab the light-bar up front and it rolls backward with ease!

I can even be on the trike and push it with my legs easier
then I could when it was 2 wheels. (no balancing act now).

Now you asked about the smoothness... after about 300 miles
the shocks break in and the ride is real nice. at first I was going
to adjust my rear shocks , but Hanniagan said to wait. I did and
now is all good. there are 5 adjustment levels on the rear shocks
on the kit.

NOTE: if you do decide to convert. I highly recommend the rake kit
for your steering. other wise you WILL be adding it later,

I am so GLAD I myself did this switch! Don't think I ever rode this much
in one summer before. and my jaw is still hurting from grinning so much!:big-grin-emoticon:
