keyboard commands

Are there keyboard commands that can be used for previewing and submitting posts? I don't see any, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Or if they don't, would that be too difficult to add?

There are a few. Seems to work OK with IE but not with Firefox. I haven't looked into why that is. I personally never use them.

In addition the WYSIWYG editor inherits all the standard editing shortcut keys like CTRL-B for bold, CTRL-I for italic and so forth.

I had to translate that into  speak, where the bottom ones work but the top two don't. Oh well. Were these things listed anywhere?

Not that I know of. To be honest, I had never looked for them and nobody had ever asked. :)

They DO work with the new Google Chrome browser! That was unexpected!

I've learned that if you're using Firefox 3+ you would have to use shift-alt-X where X is the access key.

Since we went to a laptop a while back instead of a desktop type computer, I find that the track pad is kind of a nuisance and find myself using more and more keyboard commands as I learn them. On a few other boards, I see the keyboard commands mentioned right beside the preview and submit buttons at the bottom. This is why I asked.

I know this is my opinion only, but I have been using the mouse pad on the laptop for at least three years. I find it a lot faster than a mouse and less strainful on the wrist. It does take some getting used too. Also requires some set-up so that it is not so sensitive.

I have the track pad set up about as well as it can be, I think, and I'm used to the way it works. I just don't find it as easy to use as a regular mouse. For some things like the skeet shooting game someone put up here, it's not possible to play the game well at all using the track pad. When I'm at my desk with it, I plug in a regular mouse, and when I'm somewhere else with it, I find myself using more keyboard commands. Each person likes a different thing, I guess. It's not impossible too, that I'm overlooking some setup feature that would make it work easier, but I wouldn't know what. I've played with everything I can see on it. But I really know very little about computers overall.

Depending on how you are using your lap top you have some options. If you are like me and have it on the counter top in the kitchen, or now on my desk because my mother boad on my PC crapped out you can attach a regular mouse to a lap top. Granted you may have to get a USB compatible mouse, heck I even use a regular key board and monitor with my lap top now that the PC is dead till the mother board arrives. I set the lap top so I can close the lid and still use it, set it in the corner and use the monitor from my PC , the mouse and the keyboard just like always.

Now if you are using the lap top because for the portablilty, none of the above applies, pain in the butt trying to use a mouse with your lap top when you are sitting in the recliner watching TV and surfing the net at the same time.

Agree it is not that good for games like that.

M61 you can get a wireless mouse, the receiver connects to the USB drive.

I do about what M61 does. At the official desk, I plug the laptop into a larger screen, keyboard, and wireless mouse. And it is portable when I need it to be.

For anyone who's interested, I finally figured out a while back that for a Mac user:

CONTROL-OPTION-P is for preview
CONTROL-OPTION-S is for submit

I use these all the time.
