I think you need an adapter. The RSV does not have the same circuits for tail/run/turn as a car. To function properly it would need a 5 connector lead.

You have something wired wrong, but you knew that right?

Buy one of those little trailer lite testers...to make sure you have the bike connector wired right, then you will know if the problem is in the trailer or the bike. They dont cost but just a few bucks. You can get these at boat/rv supply places or the internet:

Did you install a modulite, or anything else to interface the bike wiring to the trailer? or did you just splice into the bike wiring directly? Motorcycle wiring is a 5 wire system, and to run a 4 wire trailer you need an adapter or module to make the conversion.

We just need a few more facts to help with this.

I agree with Kbran. I installed the Modulite on my RSV and can now use the standard 4 pin connector.:thumbsup2:

If you are only using 4 wires to a 4 pin connector you need an adapter. The scoot has separate signals from the brakes. More like a european setup.

The Modulite is the adapter.

You can buy a modulite type module at an AutoZone or Carparts if there's one close to you.

walmart has a hopie coverter to wire the 5 to 4 wire system so they work right.on the trailer the brake and turn signals operate the same bulbs but on the bike the turn sigs and brakes are seperated.

I have the modulite controller and mine has the same issues. I have double and triple checked the wiring and it is right. I must have gotten a bad unit. I am going to try to return it and try the hoppie instead.

I just bought 2 small amber lights and mounted them and wired my signal lights to them and the tail and brake to the existing lights. It will work good then. You don't have to buy the adapter.

Before you do, let me ask you this: Have you changed any of the turn or brake lights to LED's? If so, that can cause some weird results with a modulite. I know how to fix that, if you have done the LED thing.

I used the adapter thing and got no tail lights, everything else fine, so I don't ride at night with the trailer.
