Man, that's a beauty. It looks like it just rolled off of the showroom floor.
Have fun,

I'm not a big fan of the 1st gens...just a personal difference in taste...but that one looks damn good.
I think it looks good because its not loaded with aftermarket junk. Too many of the older 1st gens I see have gawdy doodads hanging all over 'em. I guess its one way to personalize your ride, but its not my first choice.

Color is in the eye of the beholder. My wife and I love "brown" vehicles, cars and bikes. Gold is tops, and when I bought my Gen I, I wanted one that was all brown/gold, but settled for Black-Cherry/Gold combo.
Your bike looks great! Enjoy it.
Oh, and sturgis, Aftermarket doo-dads on Gen I's? Most I see are pretty free of the type of stuff that gets hung on Harley style Gen II's, but whoever has their name on the title gets to decide what is cool. Many of my friends with RSV's have a LOT more bling on their bikes than a typical Gen 1 owner does.
I love to see a nicely accessorized bike, but prefer the more stock look for mine, my '86 has enough buttons and features that I don't need to add more! LOL

Your absolutely right. Just like you said, cool, like color, or beauty, IS in the eye of the beholder.
Or, like one of my t-shirts says, Beauty is in the eye of the BEER-HOLDER!
:cool10:
I'm all for personalization...what I persoanlly dont find attractive is all the big landing lights, footwings, LED clearance lightbars from hell, plasticy aftermarket wind deflectors, raccoon tails, black and white cow-glide seats, red flags on big 7 foot rods, glued on car logos, cheap plastic folding cup holders, car stereos velcroed to the tank...you get the idea.
And weve all seen this stuff on motorcycles. Sure, it makes a statement, and I'm all for freedom of expression. Still, MY preference is for a clean well-integrated enhancement. His looks good. Thats all I'm sayin.
And remember, I gots TEXAS DECALS on mine!!

Very nice 1st gen. And this is coming from a dyed in the wool 2nd genner. I wish my bike looks that good in 20 or so years.

What a nice looking bike. Bet it runs as good as it looks. Hmmm,, wonder if my better half would give a permit for another bike in the garage. Gone to the florist,,,,,,,,,,,,

Great looking bike. I see a resemblance in the 1st. gen style to the current BMW 1200. Congratulations.

I actually found it this clean. I can't take credit for that.
I REALLY appriciate all your comments. This bike does look and run great. It of course needs a few minor things, but I feel very lucky that they are only minor things considering it is a 25 year old bike and as far as I can tell it is completely original. My wife and I had been looking for a used bike for several months and this one was a little more $$$ than we wanted to spend but after seeing it, riding it and hearing the price I just couldn't pass it up.
On the other hand... considering this is my first bike, I am kind of "waiting for the other shoe to fall". Waiting for something to go wrong with it that I don't know how to fix or can't readilly afford to fix.
Anyway, thanks for the comments.
