I was looking to buy a bike that would be comfortable two up. I knew I wanted water cooling, stereo and intercom. Being only an hour from Daytona, I did test rides on the Venture, the Wing and the BMW LT at Bike Week March 06. I was still undecided, liked them all. I did a search and joined several Venture, the Goldwing 1800 site and the BMW LT sites and read all about the pros and cons of the bikes at each site to have an idea what to expect. Still had a hard time deciding, test road them all again at Biketoberfest 06. Still was having a hard time deciding but was leaning toward the Venture. In Jan 07 took the wife in to look at one and she thought the blue/black was good looking. That was all the encouragement I needed, so I bought a Venture.
I know my join date shows Jan 07, but I'm pretty sure I actually joined here, possible under a different name, a year or so before.

I found VR.o with a google search in late 04 after I bought my 86. I didn't get on much and forgot about it until I searched again in 06 and found out about Vogel! I went to that and that's all it took to get me hooked. Of course right after Vogel, I tried to log on and couldn't get on. I figured that after I met everyone at the rally, they didn't want me here any more! :rotfl: Then I found out about the CRASH OF 06 and felt better!

Before I bought my 05 Midnight, I had only seen 2 of them and I wanted to find out more about the bike and it's characteristics. I searched around and happened upon VR.Org. After reading and seeing how the members not only helped all who came along, but had become a huge family with all the fun jibs back and forth as brothers and sisters do in a family, I was just hooked.
Thanks Don for building the best family on the net.

As you well know Don it was from the "NOTORIOUS email from Freebird " asking if there was interest in a new site.
I was one of the first 5 or 6 that help get the site started and vote on the different forum software's. So if someone don't like the software being used today you can blame the first few people here.

Bought the bike first and decided I better find a fourm to learn all about the bike. Instead I not only gained a ton of knowledge from those who have owned these fine machines but gained a whole lot of friends.
I either found this site thru a link at Delphi or thru Gooogle. Really don't matter as I'm here to stay.

We were stalked. NEWTrk and I were riding through Granite OK in May of 06, first long ride with the new bike and next thing we know is we were being stalked by Wild Hair. He was sitting on a front porch as we rode by jumped on his 1st gen and followed us. He trapped us in a dead end at Quartz Mountain and forced us into a corner and made us take his card with this website on it. Best advertisment this site has is 'The Ambasador'.
Thanks Lowell! You always have a place in Catoosa to hang you hat.

believe it or not I was looking to upgrade from my M50. I was looking for a HD roadking was at the dealer to test ride the roadking and when I got back from the test ride I noticed the 07 midnight venture. I ask the dealer about it and he said it was in on consignment because the old guy could not hold it up at stop signs, I ask about damage and other than a couple of scratches on the crash bars no other damage. I ask the dealer If I could test ride it and he said sure took the bike out went about 10 miles and was sold went back to the dealer and bought it that afternoon. went home did a google search and here I am.

Was at a local indie bike store 5 months after getting my 84, saw a MK11 outside, looked around for who I thought it might be. Met Millman 37 that day, he turned me on to the site, been here ever since (much to the detriment of trying to get anything else done!). Great people, great technical help, only place I know that I can talk to Australia and Germany at the same time about the same subject with no bullc**p like politics and the such to deal with. Even carry on PM's with a certain member in Germany about Auto racing! Haven't been to any other sites and most likely won't!

and his brother said their are supporting sights that we should look into. So we did and upon discovering this sight we also made friends with BIG TOM. He introduced us to his loyal VR members and non members as well. This is the second year for me and Philip since he bought his new used bike just last year. Drove all the way to Michigan and back with a rented truck to bring a tour bike for me for comfort! Am I glad he did. That is where the name RawHide developed. I was getting too sore on long trips with the other bikes, BUT NOT WITH VR! Hail to VR! And guess what we did our first host for the Finger Lakes area upon the urging from BIG TOM! It was successful and we definitely will do it again. SEE WHAT HAPPENS when you sign up and join VR...it sure does motivate you!

... a deers attempt to ride my FIRST New 86 VR (Ursula Black on Gold = beautiful!) ... some guys in an organization I belong too were riding. I got the itch. Tried a used Gold wing but with my new knees I could not manage the sifter position.
I went to the local Yamaha dealer and told them I wanted another Yamaha after I did a trial ride on a member here's bike in a parking lot ... and they said one was for sale on this site. That's how I got hook up with Squidley who had an 86 VR for sale. After meeting his lovely wife, Lonna, ... I fell in love ... with the Bike! And he brought it down to me after picking up a trailer the gang here fund raised to give to our great Adm of the site, Dan, and parked the trailer in my garage as he went to Texas to pick up his new bike, back to here, loaded up the trailer, and they drove it with their new bike back home.
Long story, great results. Found two great people to love, and an honest deal and great bike. Still riding happy.

Looking for repair ideas and this site came up. Thanks for having this site it has saved me alot. Also found some good people to go with it.
Last winter, I was thinking about finding a more comfortable touring bike than my Pacific Coast especially for my frequent long runs to the cottage (over 200 miles). That triggered memories of an old riding buddy's VR back in the late 80's. Did a google search which turned up an 88VR and also led me to this site. Had a quick look at the VR and was turned off by a several problems including no clutch pressure, an E4 error message etc. However, I was so impressed with the the helpful info and people on this site that I bought the bike. Thanks to the amazing information and help of many members, buying that VR turned out to be one of my better decisions in 2009.

I bought my RSTD and joined another Yamaha forum hoping to get information. Their Royal Star section was small and did not have a ton of stuff. I was looking for information/instructions about installing an RSV seat on my RSTD and a member at that site gave me a tip about Venturerider.org. He is also a member here, so I joined up on a trial basis. With the help I've gotten, the membership won't be a "trial" one for very long.

First thing I do when I see a Venture rider is ask them if they are on the site. If they say no... I tell them of the benefits and of the weird.... errrrr GREAT people on the site !
Word of mouth is one option for the poll... but recommendation from a member should be on their too !
Hmmmm.... finders fee for new members?

I ran in to Don Harrell (tazmocycle) and his wife Susan at an intersection south of Birmingham while on a test ride after I had resoldered my CMU. They invited me to a local bike get together and when I did they asked if I was going to Vogal. I said "What's a Vogal?" At the time I was a member of The Venturers.
I went to Vogal one and ended up joining Venturerider.org and life has never been the same.

It was thru a search engine.
I actually paid to join "the other one"...but found this one is much better, people are friendlier, and overall just more enjoyable.

I joined another site after buying the RSTD. Then I found this in a search engine. More bike talk, less political talk.
Best site I have found yet. Keep up the good work.
