My belief is that Mark is in a place where there is no pain, and that he is doing everything that he wants to do. It is hard to know what to say in a time like this. I also met the "Dog" at Vogel and was impressed. I couldn't find the "Mean" part.

Reflecting on the loss of a loved one once, this came to my mind and I found it reassuring. I have given it to others that, I hope, have found some comfort in it.

Although Mark has passed beyond the veil that separates us from ancestors, known and unknown, he lives within our hearts, minds and souls. All the lives he touched have known a greater joy than otherwise would have been.

Death brings sorrow and pain to the living, but we must remember the ship sailing away over the horizon and those left on the pier saying “Alas, he is gone”; while on the distant shore others are saying “Look, on the horizon, here he comes!” This, then, is the joy of reunion: Man with God.

Mark is beyond our physical touch yet lives in the very core of our souls.

I first had the honor of meeting Mark at last years Vogel. Knowing what he was going through with his health at that time, I was amazed that this man had ridden so far to meet with fellow VentureRiders. I got to know Mark just a little bit at Vogel, the next time I saw Mark was when we made our ride to St. Judes to present the donation from Vogel to the Hospital. I have had the honor to ride with Mark twice and feel I am a better person for it, Mark showed me what true love of thy neighbor is all about.

Charlene and I are deeply saddened by this loss, and will keep all of his family in our prayers and thoughts, and Kenny, thank you for doing what you did for Mark, and for us by keeping us informed, you too are a special person.

I feel sad that I was unable to take the time to go see him, but that is the nature of our lives, we dont take the time to do what we should in so many cases. Just wanted to say thank you for all of your prayers and thoughts. Mean Dog loved this web site and all the friends he made. Mark really enjoyed the Vogel ride and meeting alot of you. He enjoyed the ride up to St. Judes because that meant alot to him going for all the kids. He really was not able but he pushed on. For the ones of you who did not know Mark accepted Jesus has his savior in Feb. Like everyone has stated he is not hurting or suffering any more but having a great time in heaven riding a motorcyle. Hey yall this is Kenny, Mark's son. I just wanted to take a minute to say a few words to yall. Since dad joined this site its all he has talked about. He talked about the trips he made and the friends along the way. Kenny you were one of the best and he loved the time yall spent together. He loved the bikes he saw and the people that rode them. In the past few months we got a lot closer and he was my dad but he was also my best friend. We talked about the rides we were gonna take when I got my bike, what we were gonna do when I got out of the Army, but most of all we talked about the times gone by. Now my father rides with Indian Larry and the best of them on golden roads. He is looking down on us and praying we won't cry for he is in a better place where he never has to worry about gas (ha ha). I know how you feel because I felt the same way when I lost my dad, he was my best freind. But Mark was a special freind to me and I miss him dearly. Been thinking about the times we got to have together and the things he still wanted to do. But God had other plans for him and he no longer has to feel the pains of this world and the cancer he endured. I know he still will ride with us and for that and the time we had together I am grateful.

I would like to thank all of you for all of the prayers and the out pour of love for Meandog. The flowers from Venture Riders were beautiful. There was about 100 people that came to the Memorial Service. There were many that called that could not attend. Once again a very heart felt thank you to kbran and Beth for all their support. Their love for the family is just so great. Kbran printed out a big picture of Meandog from Vogal on his bike that was framed and set out at the Memorial service. Kbran, Bill Phillips, Kenny Still, James Odens(Meandogs supervisor at work) and Jackie Thompson (my security dicrector) all did a great job (hate to say job) at speaking at the service. There was about 10 to 15 bikes that rode the loop in memory of Meandog. Once again thanks to all of you. With love Nancy aka Giggles.
