Antenna question

howdy all. need a little help here.

the cb and radion antenna's have a springloaded slip collar. You slide it upward an inch or so and it exposes an elbow hinge. This allows you to fold the antenna forward for things like putting a cover over the bike.

My CB one is lined up just right. It folds forward and ends up right next to the bike. The radio antenna elbow is 45 degrees off, so it will only fold out away from the bike.

I can't really tell from looking where to put a wrench to fix this. Also, it looks like there may be a set screw of some kind involved, but I'm not to sure about that yet either.

If i did a good enough job describing things, and you can help me out, please let me know.

I think that most are "stud" mounted. There would be a nut on the bottom of the mount that you would just loosen. That's the way that mine and most that I've seen are.

Be careful turning the antenna. Those two black spots that look like a plug on top of a set screw are actually the ends of a plastic pin that will shear off if you try to turn that part. Loosen the bottom nut and it should go well. :080402gudl_prv:

I replaced my radio antennea with one mounted inside the fairing made by tunetrapper.com . It works well for FM reception, AM not as well. Just a thought.

Thanks to all. Goose, what you described was what I ~thought~ was a set screw, but it looked like a buggered up set screw at best. that's gotta be that plastic pin.

edit at 730 pm 02/20: man it don't take much to get me excited. two wrenches, 10 minutes and it's fixed. thanks again... whoops i think i forgot to put that rubber boot back up.
