I ordered some tires from americanmototire.com and probably need to change the valves also. Are the valve stems universal? I want to use the 90 degree type.:confused24:

I'm fairly sure most are. The 90s or 45s make it a lot easier. Think about which side of bike you are most likely to be on when airing up. I faced a 45 wrong way once and was always going around bike to get at it seemed like.

Actually they are not. There are two different Valve hole sizes. 5/8 and 3/16. Our bikes use 3/16 as do most bikes and cars. Lots of truck valves are 5/8 hole.

Did a search on the net...can't find valve stems that are 45 or 90 degree other than heavy truck ones. Where do you get these?

I just realized you have a VR. The link is for a Gen 2 Venture. I suspect they are the same, but dig around on the Bike Bandit site and they will provide the answer. Good luck.

Here's an angled valve stim at J&P Cycles
http://www.jpcycles.com/productdetail.aspx?PID=217-132&cs=Metric&GID=BD24FD82-8767-4C65-84F0-79EF66DDDD1D&store=All&page=8&search=valve%20stims
It says 5/16's though, You sure its not 5/16's rather than 3/16's?
i have had it with the angle stems im going to put on the stubby straits i dont care if its a bit harder to check or add air
