Hi folks - does anyone have experience riding both of these bikes?

I do believe my RSV will be a write-off so I will be looking at a new bike.

Much as I love the RSV, I do find it a bit top-heavy and was wondering if the Tour Deluxe suffers from the same?

I know there are "some fixes" for the RSV handling but I'd still like your comparison opinions first.

I thank you in advance for any comments.

I havn't ridden the new Tour Delux but have ridden the earlier one I would say that it will definitely be less top heavy. Consider no faring, no sound system, and no trunk. How could it not be less top heavy?

Eugenei've got an rstd thats been venturized.added alot of weight a little at a time.actually it felt heavier. when i bought it getting used to it i guess.in fact when i loaded it down to go to vogel i could'nt feel a noticable difference.if it's lighter weight your looking for i don't think there it more than forty lbs. difference in the two.bill:2133:

I bought an 03 RSV and sold it. When I saw what a mistake that was and that the wife hardly ever rode with me, I went with the 05 RSTD.

Yes, very noticeable GOOD difference. Might be close just taking the trunk off of an RSV.

All I can say is :dancefool:

Thanks for the comments so far folks. I do understand that the weight difference between the two is not much (40 llbs or so) - was just wondering about the balance/handling comparison.

Thanks again.

Eugene, I have a 05 RSTD & 06 RSV, I can't tell any difference in handling. Wheel sizes & frame are the same. Handlebars are wider on the RSTD which gives it a lighter feel. I think it comes down to which one you like to look at best.

Both bikes are awesome, good idea making both out of one.

I'd like to add a question to this. How much difference is there in wind protection between the two, with one having a full fairing and the other having just a windshield?

Better protection behind the RSV, has wider front protection. Creates better pocket behind fairing. But remember it doesn't come off, so summer can be warmer.

That is a good one Bill. You need to update your profile to read "05 Tour de Venture."
